Do only insecure guys control their girlfriends?

I found that only after two dates my now ex-boyfriend was trying to influence the way that I looked, where we went, what I ate at restaurants. He was always saying that I was out of his league only to then proceed to make some spiteful comment thinking he was funny, then started doing things and saying things to try and make me jealous and was always trying to get my reurance. He would say things that would get my attention. Truth is I saw right through it and told him to get a grip. He sheepishly backed down and ran away from me like a coward. Why are mouthy men so weak and look to control their relationships to the extent they push the other person away?
