I am looking to join the NYPD?

I am currently an active duty member of the U.S. Navy and was considering filing for an early out. i have been in for about 2 years and 5 months, I live in VA for the time being, but am still a NY resident. I would try for Suffolk, as I am a native Long Islander, but due to prior indiscretions in high school when i was young and dumb, don't think i would get in. I have a few questions. What are the drug questions asked on the polygraph? It's been a few years but i was stupid and made three mistakes in the past 3 years other than my high school idiocy, the last within 8 months. Would i be able to apply while still an active duty member? And lastly if all goes well, do you stay at the police academy for the duration of the time you are there (I believe six months)?
