Autopsy procedures... brain removal?

sorry if this is the wrong category... but I'm wondering some things about what usually takes place in a general autopsy. are there different kinds? I'm no doctor and never knew much on the subject, but I never knew they did as much as what I've been finding out. I figured they just cut the chest and stomach area open and examined the organs inside the body, not actually take them out and practically take the person apart! and do they always take the brain out? like in MJ's case, when they already think they know what caused his death, why would it be necessary to remove the brain? and in most cases when the family plans to have the coffin open at the funeral, wouldn't there be stitches showing on the forehead if it was removed? it just seems that they do a lot of unnecessary things.
